Joan, daughter of Roderick Macaulay and Barbara Macleod, 30 Balallan taught in Balallan School from 1917 to 1930, after which she became a teacher at Knockiandue School for 28 years, the last seven as headmistress. She was unmarried and spent her retirement in the Nurses Cottage, East End, Balallan.
