4203: Angus Macmillan
Aonghas Ailein Mhurchaidh
Angus (1869-1887) was a son of Allan Macmillan and Christina Macmillan, 20 Gravir.
He was on a fishing boat with a crew from Gravir in February 1887 when she was struck by a sudden squall and capsized. Five of the crew succeeded in keeping themselves afloat until rescued by a boat but Angus, who had tried to swim to shore, drowned before the boat arrived. His father Allan, was skipper of the boat, and being unwell, his son took his place. Angus died aged 17.
