Mary (1844-1885) was the daughter of Angus Macrae and Ann Murray; it is not certain where the family were living at the time of her birth. Her paternal grandparents lived at 10 Old Back.

The family settled at 34 Back, and during the croft relottings her parental grandparents obtained 33 Back.

In 1851 the family emigrated to Quebec and settled in Whitton.

In 1865 she married Donald Smith, another emigrant from Lewis; they had seven children.

She died in Marston, Compton, Quebec.
