Alexander (born 1850) was a son of Finlay Smith and Gormelia Macleod, 2 Cromore. After the death of his father the family moved to Cailean Thearlaich. In 1882 he married Christina Macleod, 48 Leurbost and they settled at 6 Murray’s Court, Cromwell Street, Stornoway. Alexander and Christina had eight children.
