Rory was one of the first people to inhabit Vuia Mhor at the begining of the nineteenth century - he is recorded on a rent roll of 1807. By 1814 he had moved - possibly to Erista (according to local tradition).

Coincidentally his brother Kenneth was responsible for clearing Vuia Mhor in the early 1840s.
