John (born 1810) was a son of Norman Nicolson and Marion Macdonald, Vuia Mhor. He married Christina Maclennan from Old Mangersta in 1840. In 1841 they are living with his father Norman in Carnish and had one child, Malcolm, born 1840.

Where they eventually settled is unknown but they appear to have left Carnish by 1851.
