Donald (born 1792) was a son of Hector Carmichael and Christina Unknown, 24 Old Gravir.
He was a tenant at Steimreway in 1827 when he married Janet Macleod. The couple settled in Steimreway where they had two of their eight children and in the 1830s moved to 5 Balallan.
The family emigrated to Canada in the 1840s and settled at Tarbet, North River, Cape Breton.
