Donald (born 1868) was a son of Angus Macleod and Isabella Macdonald, 14 Balallan. In 1873 the family moved to Stornoway before they emigrated to Canada. The family settled at Lingwick, Quebec. His mother died and he and his father returned to Lewis. His father married Henrietta Macphail from Bragar in 1893 and the family lived at 13 Garden Road, Stornoway.
