John (1894-1954) was a son of Donald Montgomery and Anne Macritchie, 17 Lemreway. His mother died in 1900 and in 1901 his father married Isabella Nicolson. The family moved to 1 Orinsay in 1922. He emigrated and returned to Lewis.
In Lochs, in 1929, he married Ann Bella Macdonald, 1 Habost. John and Ann Bella lived at 15a Balallan efore moving to 6 Bulnacraig Street, Stornoway. They had a son, the Rev Alasdair Montgomery.
