John (born 1842) was a son of Murdo Macleod and Mary Macleod, 11 Cromore.
In 1873 he married Margaret Mackenzie, 14 Marvig. John and Margaret settled at 11 Cromore and they had at least two children.
The family later moved to Stornoway.
