Murchadh Alasdair Mhurchaidh

Murdo was a son of Alexander Macleod and Margaret Macleod, 11 Cromore.

He emigrated to Canada and lived at 272 Sanford Avenue North, Hamilton, Ontario and was a Munitions Worker.

On January 5, 1918 he was drafted and joined the Canadian Expeditionary Force Service Number 3106415. His record indicates that he was 5 ft 7 in tall with dark hair, brown eyes, a dark complexion and two scars on his right abdomen. He sailed to France on the SS Scandinavian and joined the 102nd Battalion of the Canadian Expeditionary Force. In May 1919 he was given permission to marry and returned to England.

Murdo did not return to Canada with his Battalion, he returned to Lewis. His name is mentioned in Loyal Lewis: Roll of Honour 1914-1918.

At Stornoway, in 1919, he married Ann Morrison, 22 Leurbost and they settled in Stornoway.
