48521: Mary Mackay

Mary (born 1893) was a daughter of Norman Mackay and Rachel Macleod, 18 Valtos. She became the second wife of William Macrae, the Inspector of the Poor at Miavaig and they lived at Miavaig Farm and House. She was working as a housekeeper at the time of her marriage – probably for him. They had four children.

After her husband’s death she and her young family moved to 35 Cliff. Later Mary lived at the Nurse’s Cottage, Miavaig. She was the registrar for Uig.
