Roderick Mackinnon (born 1831) was a son of Donald Mackinnon and Catherine Maclennan, Crobeg and 4 Caverstay.
He married Catherine Macdonald, 10 Garyvard. Roderick and Catherine settled at 4 Caverstay and they had fourteen children, two of whom died at a young age and three who died in infancy. The family eventually moved to Stornoway.
