John (born 1880) was a son of Roderick Macleod and Mary Finlayson, 28 Cromore.

At Stornoway, in 1906, he married Isabella Mackenzie, 13 Marvig. John and Isabella  settled in Glasgow.

John was widowed in 1911.

He served in the Seaforth Highlanders in the First World War and was wounded. His name is mentioned in  Loyal Lewis: Roll of Honour 1914-1918.

At Blythswood, Glasgow, in 1917, he married Dolina Macaulay, 21 Sheshader. John and Dolina settled in Glasgow.

After the War John worked in the Post Office.
