5025: Christina Gray Ross

Christina (1914-1948) was the daughter of William Ross and Mary Mackenzie of the Gamekeepers House, Soval.

In 1924 her father became a gamekeeper at Marybank, Stornoway.

She worked as a shop worker at Liptons Ltd, at grocers at 63 Cromwell Street, Stornoway, for 16 years. She was a member of the Ladies Social Committee of the Lewis Pipe Band and through the War was a member of the YMCA Social Committee. She was made an honorary member of the YMCA in recognition of her work. She never married and looked after her ailing mother until her own death.
