John (1900-1918) was a son of John Maclennan and Margaret Buchanan, Reithmir, Valtos, croft number 27. He died in 1918 of influenza, during the epidemic. There is a Bible given to him by a minister in the Uig Historical Society archive.

OBITUARY - On Thursday last, the death took place of John MacLennan son of the late John MacLennan, Raimer, Valtos. He had been suffering from influenza when other complications set in. He was over 18 years old, had joined the R.N.V.R., and had received his calling-up notice for Friday - the day after his death. Much sympathy is felt for his widowed mother, and his brothers in their sore bereavement.
