Catherine (1781-1869) was the daughter of Donald Nicolson; it is not clear where the family were living at the time of her birth.
She married John Smith and they settled at 3 Strome where they had at least three of their seven children.
The family moved to Shieldinish and Catherine was widowed in 1830.
Shieldenish was cleared in 1843 and the family moved to 42 Balallan and later to 5 Achmore.
