John (1825-1876) was the son of Donald Macaskill and Ann Macmillan, 1 Old Gravir, at Tumanuadan. The family moved to 4 Old Gravir at Tumanuadan and later to 17 Gravir.
In Lochs, in 1854, he married Janet Morrison, 7 Marvig. John and Janet were Cottars at 17 Gravir and they had at least nine children.
