John Mackenzie (1811-1890) was a son of Murdoch Mackenzie and Ann Macdonald, 9 Old Orinsay.
In 1840 he married Catherine Macaulay, 11 Old Lemreway. John and Catherine settled at 9 Old Orinsay where they had one of their eight children.
The family were removed to 4 Crossbost in 1843.
