John Finlayson (born 1842) was a son of Donald Finlayson and Margaret Gillies, 4 Old Steimreway.
Old Steimreway was cleared in 1857 and the family were removed to 30 Lemreway.
John emigrated to Canada and settled at Quebec.
He married Sophia Mackenzie, Quebec, ex 11 Old Lower Barvas. The couple adopted a son, Donald and settled in Marston, Quebec.
in 1901 the family were living in Bruce County, Ontario.
