John (1810-1883) was a son of Donald Mackay and Margaret Nicolson, 7 Old Eishken. After his father's death the family were evicted and moved to 16 Old Gravir.
In Lochs, in 1833, he married Mary Maciver, 15 Old Gravir. John and Mary settled at 16 Old Gravir where they had eight of their nine children.
In the 1852 lotting John obtained 24 Gravir.
John was widowed in 1882.
