Malcolm Angus, son of Donald Mackinnon and Christina Morrison, 43 Balallan was a PT instructor at Dunfermline Academy when he enlisted with the Cameron Highlanders during the First World War. He rose to the rank of Lieutenant and was awarded the Military Medal on 9 April, 1917 for showing great coolness, courage, untiring work and energy. After the War he taught on the Isle of Arran and the Isle of Islay. He married Angusina Macaulay but nothing further is known about her.
