56390: Murdo Macaulay

Murdo, born 1901, was the youngest son of John and Christina nee Macdonald, 4 Hacklete. He joined the Glasgow City Police in 1921 and served for three years. He then left Britain and travelled through Asia, eventually joining the police in Shanghai – where he was promoted to Sergeant. He left Shanghai after three years and headed for New Zealand. In 1948 he was British representative in the Cook Islands and lived in Rarotonga; settled in Dunedin with his wife Alice and children Donald John (1936 – June 1990), George Murdoch (married to Merle Ann Woodford; with issue) and Christina Mary.
