57042: Murdo Macaulay

Murdo, born c1856, was a son of Aulay and Marion nee Macaulay who relocated from Croir to 11 Hacklete in 1880. His brother George bought the stock of Linshader farm and set Murdo up as tenant – he is enumerated there with members of his family in the census of 1901. Murdo was married for a short time; no issue

After the lease ran out they moved to Stornoway where some of the family ran a boarding house.

Murdo and his sister Margaret – both equally well liked for their sense of humour – returned to Bernera and resided in Heath House until the mid 1930s.
