57600: George T Mackenzie

George, son of George Mackenzie and Catherine Thomson, Caithness was a pupil teacher in Wick and then in Killiminster Public School in Caithness. He attended the Free Church Training College in Edinburgh from 1878 to 1879 and taught at Kirkwall Burgh School before moving to Balallan where he taught from January to November 1886. He then moved to Hollandstown on North Ronaldsay. George was married to Mary Turfus and they had two children: Mary (1884-1958) and Grace (1885-1923).

George died at the Orchard, Burnhill, Terreglen, Kirkcudbright and Mary his wife died in Druimuir, Aberdeenshire.
