57665: Dr D I McCallum

Dr D I McCallum was son of Archibald McCallum and Margaret Matheson, Ballachulish, Argyllshire. He trained as a doctor at Edinburgh University before serving in the Royal Army Medical Corps during the Second World War (during which he was awarded the Military Cross and twice mentioned in dispatches). His specialism was dermatology and he worked in Edinburgh and Nottingham before moving to Inverness in 1973, where he worked until retirement. He and his wife moved to Edinburgh in 1986.  Dr McCallum visited Balallan School during the Centenary year in 1979 and presented a clock in memory of his father who was a Headmaster there.
