58646: Murdo Macmillan

Murdo Macmillan originally came from Ardminish in Argyll to work as a shepherd with Donald Macneil, the tacksman in Southern Park. He had four sons; Angus and Donald were said to have settled in Bernera before moving to Shader, Point. John settled in Gravir and Norman settled in Eishken.

The Macmillans are known locally as Clann a Bhaird and it is said that Rubh’ a Bhaird, a headland in Southern Park, was named after Murdo.
