Louis Dhòmhnaill Alasdair

Lewis  (1891-1960) was a son of Donald Macleod and Catherine Macleod, 6 Lemreway. He was Lewis on his Birth Certificate but was always known as Louis.

He served in the Gordon Highlanders in the First World War and was awarded a Pension. His name is mentioned in Loyal Lewis: Roll of Honour 1914-1918.

At Stornoway, in 1917, he married Mary Finlayson, 10 North Tolsta. Louis and Mary settled at 52 Nicolson Road, Stornoway and they had seven children.

The couple emigrated to Australia with some of their grown up children on the SS Cameronia on October 2, 1952. They settled at 61 Victoria Street, Melbourne.

Louis drowned on a Melbourne beach in 1960.
