59263: Neil Nicolson
Neil Nicolson (born 1899) was a son of Kenneth Nicolson and Peggy Carmichael, 16 Lemreway.
He enrolled in the Royal Naval Reserve, S/Ns A11223 and B7284, on August 10, 1923. His record indicates that he was 5ft 3½ in tall, dark brown hair, grey eyes and a dark complexion. Neil lived at Mackenzie Street, Stornoway and worked on Stornoway registered fishing boat the Maria Stella for two years before joining the Merchant Navy. He travelled to Montreal on the SS Metagama, to Russia on the SS Minorca, to Vancouver, the River Plate, Vancouver and the Pacific on the SS Moveria, and the Pacific and Vancouver on the SS Garcia.
Neil left the Royal Naval Reserve in 1933 and settled in Glasgow.
