Angus Smith (1891-1975), son of Angus Smith and Alexanderina Macdonald was a pupil teacher in Knockiandue School from 1906-1909. He then went to the Nicolson Institute, followed by periods at New Vale, Stow and Jordanhill Colleges and Glasgow University where he studied Celtic. He was appointed Headmaster of Elgol School, Isle of Skye in 1914. He moved to Bellanoch Schoo, Argyll before being appointed Headmaster of Pirnmill School, Isle of Arran. In 1920, he moved to Shishken School, Isle of Arran where he taught for over thirty years.
He married Jenny Anderson, Isle of Arran in 1917 and they had three daughters and one son.
