61116: Donald Montgomery

Donald (born 1900) was a son of John Montgomery and Joan Morrison, 7 Arivruach. He worked as a carpenter in the dockyards in Greenock before moving to Canada in the 1920s. He married Isobel Macaskill, 46 Upper Carloway, and they lived in Windsor, Ontario. They returned to Scotland in around 1933 and lived in Glasgow before returning to Arivruach, taking on the running of the first Post Office in the village which opened in 1950. About two years later, they went to Australia where Donald worked for the State Electricity Commission in Rubicon, Victoria. Another move took him to Alexandria where he taught woodwork in a high school.

Donald and Isabella had four children.
