John Macmillan (born 1875) was a son of Donald Macmillan and Barbara Macdonald, 17 Marvig.
On March 24, 1916 he enrolled in the Royal Naval Reserve, S/N DA10863. His record indicates that his year of birth was 1882, he was 5ft 6½ in tall with blue eyes and a fair complexion. John was a fisherman and was immediately Mobilised and served in the Royal Navy in the First World War. Initially aboard HMT Caldy he was transferred to HMS Iolaire in 1918 and remained there until 1919. John was mentioned in Loyal Lewis and received War Prize Money of £2.00.0d, £2.10.8d and £18.10.0d.
