Murdo (1831-1912) was a son of Donald Buchanan and Christina Macaulay, 10 Mealista. In 1837, when Mealasta was cleared, he moved with his family to 5 Doune Carloway. In 1853, when Doune Carloway was cleared the family returned to Uig, living at number 6 Kneep. Murdo was joint tenant of number 6 with his brother John.
In 1872, Murdo married Henrietta Morrison, 3 Valtos. They had no family.
