64405: Robert Carmichael

Robert Carmichael (born 1811) was a son of Hector and Christina Carmichael, 24 Old Gravir.
He was living in Steimreway, in 1828, when he married Catherine Maclean. It is not clear where the couple initially settled or where their first child was born.
In 1832 he and his brother, John obtained 12 Old Lemreway and split the croft. Robert and Catherine at 12b where they had four of their eight children.
Old Lemreway was cleared in 1843 and the family emigrated to Canada. They settled at Baddeck, Cape Breton.
Two of his brothers, Donald and Archibald, also emigrated to Cape Breton.
