65023: Alexander Gillanders

Alexander Gillanders was the only son of the Chamberlain of the Lews, George Gillanders. It appears that he succeeded his father as Chamberlain for a time in the mid 1790s, and subsequently retired to the new family estate at Highfield, Muir of Ord.

Alexander married Elizabeth Mackenzie (daughter of Alexander or Thomas Mackenzie, V of Ord) in 1777 and had several of a family, including John, his heir, and George, who was tacksman at Shader.

George Jr had at least two daughters, Helen 1801 (married in 1820 to William Macgregor, tacksman at Galson, with issue) and Annabella (married in 1834 to John Mackenzie, rope manufacturer at Francis St, Stornoway)
