65341: John Matheson

We cannot say with certainty that John belonged to this family – but there was a John Matheson son of John at Uigean married to Mary Smith daughter of Donald at Reef married in 1847.

They aren’t enumerated in the Uig census of 1851 but a John and Mary (born in Uig) do appear in Mid Borve in that year with two daughters, Catherine 1848 and Ann 1850, also born in Uig. Subsequent censuses record children; Christina b c1851, Donald b c1854, Margaret b c1858, Isabella b c1860 and Mary b c1863 – the latter all born in Barvas.
