65965: Malcolm Matheson

Malcolm son of John and Janet nee Morrison lived in Valtos until 1773 when he moved to Crowlista – he is on record as tenant there at various dates between 1771 and 1780. He appears as signatory of a petition to the chamberlain of Lewis dated at Stornoway 26th April 1773 asking that rents be reduced and certain grievances be redressed.

He was married with issue, including Donald ‘Domhnall Ban’ (about whom the song "Saighdear Chaluim Bhain" was written) and Norman (emigrated to Cape Breton with his family)
