Donald – ‘Domhnall Ban’ was joint-tacksman of Ranish in 1718 with his brother Alexander but in 1720 he moved to Garrabost and in the rental of 1726 is joint-tacksman with Norman Macleod (in Families of Lewis; Mathesons in Stornoway Gazette 1951 the version is slightly different. It says; Donald was joint tacksman of Garrabost in 1726 but left the following year to take possession of Ranish along with his son Alexander).

He had three sons; Murdo (died in Kirkton of Lochalsh – he left descendants in Slumbay, Lochcarron), Roderick (died in Lewis but descendants live in Attadale and elsewhere on the mainland) and Alexander (settled in Ireland and left descendants in County Down)
