Donald was a son of Donald Macleod and Mary Mackay, 11 Mealista. He may have moved with his family  to 15 Old Brenish before they settled at 16 Brenish. There is no record of him with the family in Bill Lawson's Croft History. According to oral tradition he was married to Marion Macleod.
