Norman Matheson
Norman Matheson (born 1919) was a son of Donald Matheson and Ann Nicolson, 27 Gravir.
He enrolled in the Royal Naval Reserve, S/N AX19568, on August 30, 1937. Norman was a Fisherman on Stornoway registered boats Including the Handy and the Excel. Norman was Mobilised on September 29, 1938.
He served with the Royal Navy during the Second World War based at HMS Badger, HMS St Christopher, HMS Drake, HMS Fort St Angelo, HMS Hannibal and HMS Victory and was awarded the DSM for courage, leadership and skill shown when serving on a gun boat in a successful action with enemy forces in June 1944 off the Dalmatian coast.
Norman later married and settled in Birmingham with their three children
