66914: Margaret Macleod

Margaret, born c1821, was a daughter of Donald and Catherine, 4 Carishader. She assumed tenancy of the croft and, as she and her sisters Ann and Christina were unmarried, the tenancy was passed to Neil Macleod ‘Niall ain Oig’, 1 Enaclete who was given the croft on three conditions; that the house had to be thatched, adequate peat supplied for their needs and that they would be given a decent burial.

The three sisters were known as ‘na Carachagan’ as they were frequently to be seen in the shore at low tide.
