67248: Murdo Macleod

Murdo born 1893 was a son of Donald and Ann nee Matheson, 11 Valtos and later 8 Carishader. He was a Sergeant in the Seaforths during WW1(seriously gassed). After the war he attended Edinburgh University graduating M.A. and B.D. He was a minister in St Columba’s Old Parish Church in Stornoway until 1922 when he transferred to Baile na Cille, remaining there until July 1927 when he transferred to Tarbat, Portmahomack where he spent the rest of his ministry.

Murdo was married to Mary (b. 9 Nov 1891, daughter of Alexander Montgomery and Isabella Macleod from Laxdale) and raised four children – two sons and two daughters:

2. Isobel Joan Macphail Macleod b. 5 Oct 1927

3. Anna Matheson Macleod b. 4 Dec 1929

4. Roderick Montgomery Macleod b.16 Oct 1931
