Samuel, born about 1760, was the son of Norman Paterson. Samuel married Rachel Campbell, with whom he had at least six children. They lived in Borve, where Samuel is listed in the 1818 and 1830 rental rolls, paying £5.10s in 1818, falling to £4.10s by 1830.
