Margaret, born 1802, was the daughter of James MacAskill and Christina MacAskill of Borve, Berneray. She married tailor John MacLeod, with whom she was to have at least seven children. Her husband held crofts in both Borve and Ruisgarry. The family was moved to Borve, Harris during the 1840s.
