68167: Flora MacLeod, Dame
Flora MacLeod of MacLeod was born at 11 Downing Street, London in 1878, which was the home of her grandfather, the Chancellor of the Exchequer, Lord Northcote.
On the death of her father Sir Reginald MacLeod, 27th Clan Chief, in 1935, she inherited Dunvegan Castle and the MacLeod estate. The Clan MacLeod society subsequently recognised Flora as 28th Clan Chief.
She became a Dame of the British Empire (DBE) for her work during the Second World War, travelling around the world and establishing Clan MacLeod Societies in America and elsewhere.
