69981: Mary MacAskill
Mary MacAskill, daughter of Kenneth MacAskill and Catherine MacLeod was born in old Ruisgarry in about 1847, moving to 9 Ruisgarry which her father obtained in 1850, and later to crofts 11/12 Ruisgarry.
Mary married her husband Roderick MacKillop in August 1869, and they presumably moved to his parents’ croft of 5 Ruisgarry. Mary and Roderick’s first child was born in 1870, dying of measles just before his first birthday. Their second son, born in June 1871, died after only 10 days. Later that year Mary and Roderick emigrated to Grand River, Cape Breton, as did his parents.
