John MacKillop, born 1876, was the son of Lachlan MacKillop and Ann MacLeod of 6 Ruisgarry. The family moved to 2 Borve, which his father obtained in 1900.

John MacKillop was ordained as a minister and married Lilian Spears from Toronto. They made their home in Canada, from where John corresponded with the bard Malcolm MacAskill who wrote Litir gu Seonaidh Lachlainn to his friend, published in Orain Chaluim.
