Marion MacMillan

Marion MacMillan

Marion, born in 1858, was the second daughter of that name born to Alexander MacMillan and Isabella MacLeod of Ferry. She became a domestic servant, marrying fisherman John MacAskill in 1879.

They lived for a while with John's brother Donald at 'house 2' Rubha Mor, later moving to Quay. Together she and John were to have eight children before he drowned at Gniopa in 1899, an incident which also claimed the life of their eldest son Alexander. Marion became a wool spinner, moving to 'house 6' Rubha Mor with her remaining children.
