Donald (born c1779) was a son of Norman Macaulay and Margaret Macaulay, 17 Crowlista. According to local tradition,  he lived at 4 Crowlista with his wife Catherine  Macaulay (cousin) and they had seven children. They later moved to number 1 Crowlista, when the tenant of that croft, Angus Macdonald, moved to number 25. The unmarried daughters remained in the house at number 4.
