71913: Mary Macdonald
Mary Macdonald was originally from Benbecula. She came to Doune School as a maid, to her sister and brother-in-law, who was headmaster at the school.
Mary married Alexander Mackenzie, originally from Gairloch, who had moved to Doune Farm in 1897 as a tacksman. The couple lived at 24 Doune Carloway; in addition to the eight children listed, Mary and Alexander had a son named Ranald who died young.
